Wicked: One Wonderful Night is an upcoming two-hour musical event from Universal Pictures, which was first announced in May 2025 during NBCUniversal’s Upfront presentation.

It will celebrate the legacy of the Broadway musical Wicked, the 2024 Oscar-nominated film of the same name, and the upcoming release of Wicked: For Good, which arrives in movie theaters on November 21, 2026.

The TV special will air on NBC a few weeks before the sequel’s opening weekend to promote the epic conclusion.

It promises an evening of exciting musical performances, exclusive clips, in-depth interviews, and brand-new Wicked songs that have never been heard before.

The electrifying show will reunite the main cast on an Emerald City-inspired stage, including three-time Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo and global superstar and Academy Award nominee Ariana Grande, alongside a phenomenal supporting cast.

Filmed at the historic Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, the highly anticipated event will reportedly begin with the opening theme of “No One Mourns the Wicked,” kick-starting an unforgettable evening of music and must-see moments.

According to an official press release, “Wicked: One Wonderful Night will transform the legendary venue into a breathtaking Emerald City-inspired set, complete with a 37-piece live orchestra led by the award-winning musical director Stephen Oremus, plus jaw-dropping musical numbers and unforgettable performances.”

The Release Date

Wicked: One Wonderful Night is scheduled for broadcast at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) on NBC in the United States, or it will be available to stream the next day on Peacock.

Those in the UK can watch the musical event on Sky and Now on Thursday, November 8, 2025.

NBC specials typically air on Global TV or Crave in Canada, with streaming available on Peacock.

The Concert Special

Wicked: One Wonderful Night will feature unmissable performances, new songs, cast interviews, and behind-the-scenes content from the film series.

For instance, the film cast of Wicked will perform alternative arrangements of classic songs from the movies on an Emerald City-inspired stage.

The music will be supported by an incredible 37-piece live orchestra, which is led by musical director Stephen Oremus.

Wicked’s choreographer, Christopher Scott, returned to create entertaining dance routines inspired by the movies.

Also, it will provide a sneak peek of two new original songs by Stephen Schwartz, “No Place Like Home” and “The Girl in the Bubble,” which he wrote for Wicked: For Good.

The TV event will include a world premiere clip from the sequel, which is likely to boost excitement ahead of the second and final film in the series.

In addition to celebrating Wicked’s global phenomenon and cultural impact, Wicked: One Wonderful Night will revisit the Broadway show. Plus, it will feature a tribute segment to the musical’s late producer, Craig Zadan.

The musical special will reportedly end with a preview performance of the iconic song “For Good” by the main cast.
