The Voice, which premiered on NBC in 2011, is one of the biggest singing competitions in America.
Based on the Dutch show The Voice of Holland, it captured attention for its Blind Auditions, which allow contestants to perform for the judges while hiding their physical appearance.
As a result, the judges will turn their famous red chairs for a contestant based on their voice alone, hoping the singer chooses them to be their mentor.
The Voice has helped launch the careers of many successful artists, including Morgan Wallen, Loren Allred, Melanie Martinez, and Nicolle Galyon.
Due to The Voice’s popularity, season 29 will arrive on TV screens in early 2026 with a fresh format and the return of many fan-favorite judges.
NBC will broadcast every stage of the competition, or you can stream the show on Peacock.
You can guarantee it will be worth the wait, as NBC recently commented that season 29 of “The Voice promises to bring the heat in a hyper-charged competition.”
The 2026 Host and Judges
Carson Daly will return to host season 29 of The Voice, as he has presented the show since it first aired in 2011.
Reba McIntyre, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, and Niall Horan have bowed out of the show. However, John Legend will resume his role as a judge after a one-season break, Kelly Clarkson returns after a four-year absence, and Adam Levine is back after a ten-season hiatus.
It promises to provide fans with a fun yet competitive season. Also, it will be the first time The Voice has had three judges instead of the traditional four.
The Voice: The Battle of the Judges
The 29th season will be known as The Voice: The Battle of the Judges, reflecting the show’s format revamp.
Triple Turn Competition and Super Steal
The gloves will be off during the reality competition seasons, as the veteran judges will battle it out to achieve the most three-chair turns.
There will be a lot to play for, as the winning judge will earn a “Super Steal” during the Battle Rounds.
It will allow them to override another coach’s attempt to steal an singer during this stage, ensuring the artist they want joins their team.
In-Season All-Star Competition
The coaches will have a team of 10 artists to mentor during season 29, which is a drop from the usual 14.
Plus, each coach will have an opportunity to bring back two fan-favorite artists from past seasons to compete alongside the 2026 contestants during the knockout stage.
Fans can look forward to the All-Star Showdowns, which will see returning contestants compete head-to-head while representing their past coaches.
For fairness, CeeLo Green, one of The Voice’s original judges, will return to judge the All-Star Showdowns and crown the winners in the sing-offs.
The coach with the most wins during the showdown will secure a guaranteed second finalist in season 29’s finale.
The New Voting Process
According to NBC, the semi-finals and finale of The Voice will have a new voting block comprising super fans and previous artists from the show.
The group will appear in the in-studio audience during the crucial rounds and will vote for their favorite contestants in real time.
