However, after 20 years of waiting, it was recently announced that The Devil Wears Prada 2 will arrive in movie theaters on May 1, 2026, with the main cast reprising their roles.
Many famous faces are expected to appear in the upcoming movie, such as Kenneth Branagh as Miranda Priestly’s new husband and Patrick Brammall as Andy’s love interest.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is based on Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns by Lauren Weisberger, who wrote the bestselling novel The Devil Wears Prada (2003).
The Plot
The Devil Wears Prada 2 will follow Miranda Priestly as she faces the increasing decline of traditional magazine publishing in the digital age. Eager to keep Runway afloat, Miranda soon finds herself competing against her old assistant, Emily Charlton, for advertising revenue.

The Production
Filming reportedly started on The Devil Wears Prada 2 on June 30, 2025. On July 21, 2025, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Stanley Tucci were spotted filming scenes in New York City, and Hathaway and Patrick Brammall were snapped filming on August 5, 2025.
Two days later, Emily Blunt and Sydney Sweeney were spotted filming. Also, a crucial scene from the upcoming movie was reportedly filmed at Newark Airport on September 10, 2025, and Streep and Tucci filmed a scene together at Dolce & Gabbana’s Milan Fashion Week.
Various films were also shot in Milan, Italy, in October. Production reportedly wrapped on October 20. 2025.
The Creative Team
Fans of The Devil Wears Prada will be pleased to know that the original director, David Frankel, and screenwriter, Aline Brosh McKenna, returned to direct and pen the sequel.
Frankel is best known for directing Marley & Me (2008), Hope Springs (2012), and the Netflix miniseries Inventing Anna (2022).
McKenna is best known for writing 27 Dresses (2008), Morning Glory (2010), We Bought a Zoo (2011), Your Place or Mine (2023), and the CWS show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
Florian Ballhaus has also returned as the sequel’s cinematographer and is best known for his work on Flightplan (2005), The Time Traveler’s Wife (2009), The Divergent Series: Insurgent (2015), I Feel Pretty (2018), and the hit HBO show Sex and the City.
