In the past two years, the event has been held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, and Saturday, December 16, 2023. If this yearâs event follows a similar schedule, the RTE Sports Person of the Year Award 2024 will likely be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
Who are the Nominees for This Yearâs Award?

Professional boxer Katie Taylor could earn a nomination and walk away with the award for the fourth time. Taylor was named the RTE Sports Person of the Year in 2012, 2020, and 2022.
Tony Kelly, an Irish hurler, could receive a nomination, too, as the captain helped Clare win the All-Ireland for the first time in 11 years on July 21, 2024, earning them their fifth title win.
