What’s the Release Date for Season 2?
Netflix ordered 16 episodes of One Hundred Years of Solitude. The episodes were reportedly filmed back-to-back but split into two seasons.
The first eight episodes arrived on the streaming service in December 2024, and the next eight will be released in June 2025. The two parts have eight chapters apiece.
What’s the Plot?
One Hundred Years of Solitude‘s second part will continue with the story from the second half of Gabriel García Márquez’s iconic novel. As a result, audiences will watch the fate of the people of Macondo and the Buendia family play out on the small screen.
Fans of the show can expect it to dig deeper into the Buendia family and its later generations.
For example, Aureliana will attempt to decipher the Melquiades manuscripts, leading to revelations about the family’s fateful tragedies.
Viewers can expect a heartbreaking depiction of the Banana Massacre, which is a historical event caused by the Colombian army attacking plantation workers on strike in 1928.
Plus, it follows the arrival of the railroad and foreign settlers as they bring prosperity to the town of Macondo before its decline.
Who Will Star in the Second Season?

For this reason, you can expect Claudio Cataño to return as Colonel Aureliana Buendia and Jeronimo Barón will play his younger version. Santiago Vásquez will again offer a teenage portrayal of the character.
Also, Diego Vasquez will play José Arcadio Buendía, and Marco González is his younger version.
Stepping back into the role of Santiago Vásquez is Leonardo Soto, and Carlos Suaréz returns as Aureliano Iguarán. Plus, Susana Morales plays a young Ursula Iguarán, and Marleyda Soto is the older version.
