Bet ResponsiblyKaty Perry is back with a brand-new album, 143, this September, offering a fresh set of songs, including her recent singles âWomanâs Worldâ and âLifetimes.â
The album, which will be released by Capitol Records, is titled after the 39-year-oldâs symbolic angel number.
It is her first studio album since she dropped Smile in August 2020 and was produced by top producers Max Martin, Stargate, and Dr Luke, who were responsible for some of her biggest hits to date.
What is the Release Date for Katy Perryâs 143 Album?
143 is Katy Perryâs seventh studio album, and it is scheduled for release on September 20, 2024.
What to Expect from 143?
According to a recent press statement about 143, Katy Perry stated, âI set out to create a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a throughline message.â
The album marks the first time the âFireworkâ singer has collaborated with Rocco Did It Again! And Vaughn Oliver. Also, she has joined forces with various producers again, such as Stargate, Max Martin, and Dr. Luke.
The producers are responsible for Perryâs biggest tracks. For example, Dr. Luke produced âI Kissed a Girl,â âTeenage Dream,â and âRoar,â to name a few.
Also, the album features collaborations with 21 Savage, Kim Petras, Doechii, and J.I.D.
How is 143 Expected to Perform in the Charts?
Despite attempting to generate much hype for her upcoming album, Katy Perryâs latest songs have struggled in the charts.
Her lead song, âWomanâs World,â has been plagued with controversy. As the song has a feminist message, music fans, media outlets, and celebrities didnât hesitate to criticize Perry for working with producer Dr. Luke on the song, as he was accused of alleged physical and emotional abuse by singer Kesha in 2014. Dr Luke denied the claims, and the case was settled out of court in 2023.
Also, Balearic Islandâs environmental department has announced it will launch an investigation into the âWomanâs Worldâ video shoot, as it is believed the production company failed to obtain the correct authorization to film on its protected sand dunes.
The song was criticized by various music critics, too, with The Guardian giving it one star out of five and stating it is a âdated attempt at writing a feminist anthem.â
The song later struggled in the charts, peaking at number 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 before falling off after one week.
âLifetimes,â the second single from 143, enjoyed only one day in the US Spotify Daily Top 200 chart at number 198 before falling off, and it reached 145 in the global Spotify chart.
