Season one of Extracted, a US reality competition series, premiered on Fox in February 2025, attracting over 2 million viewers.
Due to its phenomenal success, the network recently announced that the second season is scheduled for release on Monday, January 26, 2026.
The survivalist show will air weekly on Fox at 8 p.m. (ET/PT). If you miss an episode, you can stream it the following day on Hulu to catch up on all the drama.
Featuring a new batch of amateur survivalists and their helpful friends and family, known as companions, it promises to provide viewers with an action-packed season they will not want to miss.
The Format
Season two of Extracted will drop 12 untrained, amateur survivalists into the unforgiving Canadian wilderness.
As they will enter the competition with limited supplies, they must immediately build a shelter, light a fire, source food, keep predators at bay, and endure the harsh elements to flourish in the remote location.
Despite being completely alone, the survivalists’ fate is in their companions’ hands, as each contestant will be represented by two loved ones at a remote headquarters.
At the HQ, the companions will watch a 24/7 live feed of their loved one and can review their biometric data, such as their heart rate, to gain an in-depth understanding of their safety, comfort, and physical decline.
During the process, a companion will determine if their loved one should play on or, if they become worried about their well-being, they can hit the “Extraction” button to immediately remove them from the competition.
As a result, the survivalists will have no say when they are pulled from the game, instantly losing them the huge grand prize, which will add to the show’s tension and drama.
However, like last season, there might be times when a survivalist asks their loved ones to hit the red button.
Also, the companions will battle it out in the HQ to secure various survival tools for their loved ones, such as food, bedding, and game-changing tools, which are delivered via drone to a survivalist.
The Prize
In addition to bragging rights for being crowned the winners of Extracted, the 12 survivalists and the 24 companions will compete to win the $250,000 grand prize.
With a considerable amount of money on the line, the survivalists will need to effectively build a shelter, light a fire, find food, and become familiar with their surroundings. If they fail to do so, a loved one may feel they have no other choice but to hit the extraction button, saying goodbye to the life-changing prize money.
The Cast
Brian Lee is expected to return as the voiceover for season two of Extracted.
Megan Hine, a renowned survival expert, is likely to be back as the head of extraction. It is her responsibility to deploy the survivalists to the Canadian wilderness, monitor their safety around the clock, and lead the retrieval teams to remove a contestant from the competition.
Fox hasn’t unveiled the 12 amateur survivalists and their 24 companions for season two of Extracted. The contestants are likely to be announced closer to the show’s January release date.
