32 professional darts players will battle it out in the hope of winning the Betfred World Matchplay this year.
Who is Expected to Compete This Year?
The top 16 players in the world rankings will automatically qualify for the Betfred World Matchplay 2025.
For this reason, you can expect the biggest names in darts to compete at the event this July, such as the world number one Luke Humphries, World Champion Luke Littler, three-time World Matchplay champion Michael van Gerwen, world number four Stephen Bunting, and more.
16 unseeded players will participate in the event, too, such as Josh Rock, Martin Schindler, Mike De Decker, Ryan Searle, Michael Smith, Joe Cullen, and Dimitri Van den Bergh.
What Will the Winner Receive?
The winner of the Betfred World Matchplay 2025 will lift the Phil Taylor Trophy. Also, the event has a prize purse of £800,000, and the winner will receive the largest share of £200,000.
The trophy is named after iconic darts player Phil “The Power” Taylor, as he won the award 16 times since the event started in 1994.
