Since 1980, BBC Children in Need has provided support to disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

The UK charity’s annual telethon broadcasts every November on BBC One, raising over £1 billion by 2023.

Originally hosted by the late Sir Terry Wogan for 35 years, a team of well-known celebrities now present the much-loved event, with Pudsey Bear serving as its lovable mascot.

Offering guest appearances, musical performances, fun collaborations, and laugh-out-loud sketches, it offers a dose of family-friendly fun for one night only each year.

The 2025 Event

BBC Children in Need 2025 is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. on BBC One on Friday, November 14, 2025.

The family-friendly event will be held at MediaCityUK in Salford, England, and it’s hosted by a team of famous faces, including Mel Giedroyc, Vernon Kay, Rochelle Humes, Lenny Rush, Paddy McGuinness, and Big Zuu.

As always, viewers at home will be treated to unique collaborations and special editions of the biggest series on the BBC, including Strictly Come Dancing, The Apprentice, and Gladiators.

Viewers at home will not want to miss The Apprentice sketch this year, which will see Lord Alan Sugar face a boardroom grilling from no-nonsense junior apprentices, turning the tables on the entrepreneur.

Lewis Capaldi is expected to have a special music performance at the annual event. Also, the BBC Children in Need Choir, comprising 16 children supported by the charity, will perform a unique arrangement of Coldplay’s “Yellow.”

Audiences can expect plenty of big surprises, epic challenges, and emotional films and performances, which may encourage them to pick up the phone to donate.

The Challenge Yourself Theme

“Challenge Yourself” is the 2025 theme for BBC Children in Need, which was created to encourage people across the UK to take on a small or large challenge to raise money.

The theme honors the year, as it urges adults and children up and down the country to secure sponsorship for a 25 challenge. The BBC charity has provided a range of ideas to help people get started, such as 25 bakes, running or cycling 25 kilometres, or the Strictly 25-step Dance Challenge.

The challenges are open to individuals, families, groups of friends, schools, and businesses, with the aim of raising as much money as possible for this worthy cause.

Pudsey Bear is expected to lead by example, as he will be taking on 25 challenges this year to encourage the UK public to get involved.

The Donation Process

Viewers can donate money to BBC Children in Need in various ways. For instance, you can make a single or monthly donation or pay for fundraising via its official website: www.bbcchildreninneed.co.uk.

The public is welcome to donate any sum they can afford. According to the BBC Children in Need website, a minimum of 95p for every £1 donated will directly go to the charity’s projects.

The website provides many helpful fundraising ideas for schools, businesses, and individuals to raise vital funds. For instance, primary schools are encouraged to host baking, dress-up, or learning challenges that allow children to have fun while raising money for those in need.

It will provide vital grants for children and young people facing various disadvantages, including illness, neglect, disability, mental health issues, poverty, social injustice, and family problems. The grants will be given to thousands of projects across the UK.
