The Cinema Audio Society (CAS) has annually presented various awards to honor exceptional sound mixing achievements since 1994.
The CAS Awards are arguably the most prestigious ceremony in the sound mixing field, with many industry professionals and newcomers eager to take home an award.
The competitive film and TV awards are open to submissions released or broadcast during the previous calendar year.
The worthy recipients are announced at the sealed envelope ceremony at the CAS Awards banquet each spring.
Peter Kurland, the CAS President, recently commented, “The CAS is committed to our mission of supporting and honoring excellence in sound for motion pictures and television. Each year, we celebrate the artistry and technical mastery of sound mixers who bring stories to life in powerful and immersive ways. We look forward to recognizing this year’s outstanding achievements at our awards next March and continuing this tradition at the 62nd CAS Awards.”
The Voting Process
The CAS will welcome entries for the various award categories via a submission form on their official website from Tuesday, October 28, to Tuesday, December 16, 2025 (5 p.m. PT).
Once the CAS has received the submissions, the nomination ballot voting will commence between Tuesday, December 30, 2025, and Wednesday, January 14, 2025 (5 p.m. PT).
The final nominees for each category will reportedly be announced on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
The final voting process will then take place between Thursday, February 12, and Tuesday, February 24, 2026 (5 p.m. PT).

The Special Recognition Awards
The CAS annually presents the following non-competitive special recognition awards at the ceremony:
The CAS Filmmaker Award
The award is typically presented to a producer or director for understanding/promoting sound as a narrative tool. According to the CSA, it is designed to “honor a filmmaker who truly understands what the sound crafts can bring to their projects and has provided the world with brilliant works of art and storytelling.”
CAS Career Achievement Award
The CAS carefully selects a worthy recipient of the annual Career Achievement Award, which is given to a respected production or post-production sound mixer.
It is often presented to a mixer who has elevated their craft thanks to their hard work, passion, and dedication, ensuring they receive the praise they deserve from their peers.
CAS Student Recognition Award
Every year, a talented new filmmaker will walk away with the CAS Student Recognition Award. It is awarded to a student who has demonstrated an undeniable passion for film and TV sound mixing.
All qualified students are eligible to apply for the award, and five finalists are carefully selected from the applications. However, a student must be enrolled in an accredited university or college to be considered for the accolade. Find out more on the CAS’s official website.
