The Political System in Poland

In Poland, the president is elected for a five-year term using a two-round system, similar to the French electoral system. If, during this, no candidate receives most of the votes in the first part, then a run-off is held between the top two candidates. A president serves for the five years and can be re-elected once.

Around 39 percent of the respondents wanted to support Rafał Trzaskowski in the first round of the presidential election. The second highest support was given to Karol Nawrocki, at 23.3 percent. Three percent of the respondents wanted to vote for a candidate on the left, but it should be noted that this poll was taken before Magdalena Biejat’s run was declared.
Should the voting go into a second round, 48.9 percent of respondents said they would vote for Rafał Trzaskowski.

Andrzej Duda is noted to be of a right-wing leaning political stance, and so is the favorite to replace him, Rafał Trzaskowski. He has some right-wing leanings, and as the election draws closer, it is thought he will lean into this to win more votes.
